Australian Rainforests and Animals Free Colouring and Activity Pages

Rainforests are such an important part of our world. They absorb our carbon dioxide, stabilize climate patterns, and are home to half the world’s plant and animal species. It is “World Rainforest Day” on the 22nd June 2021 so we’ve created this free colouring page and activity page to introduce you to some of the unique animals that live in Australia’s different Rainforests.

Did you know that Australia has many different types of Rainforests?

  • The Rainforests of Queensland are home to the Southern Cassowary and have the following types of Rainforest: Subtropical, Tropical, Dry, Warm Temperate, and Cool Temperate (at high altitude).
  • The Rainforests of New South Wales are home to the Red-Necked Pademelon and have the following types of Rainforest: Subtropical, Warm Temperate, and Cool Temperate (at high altitude).
    • The Rainforests of Victoria are home to the Leadbeater’s Possum and have the following types of Rainforest: Cool Temperate and Warm Temperate.
    • The Rainforests of Tasmania are home to the Giant Freshwater Crayfish and are Cool temperate Rainforests.
    • The Rainforests of Western Australia are home to the Dampier Peninsula Monitor and have the following types of Rainforest: Monsoon and Dry.
    • The Rainforests of Northern Territory are home to the Dodd’s Azure Butterfly and have the following types of Rainforest: Monsoon, Tropical, Subtropical, and Dry.
    • South Australia & the Australian Capital Territory do not have any natural Rainforests.
